Thanksgiving is the chance for all of us that helps us to be closer to our family, friends, good food and of course drinks to make it more lively. But with many of us who likes to experiment with our drinks especially by preparing cocktails that will add the colors to our celebration.
Here are a few cocktails that you can try preparing for this Thanksgiving:
Strato Dessert Cocktail
Amari and cold-brewed coffee have similar flavor profiles, and they will be struck you as a great dessert-cocktail combo. And it becomes even more fun with a little-whipped cream on top of the cocktail. Equal parts pick-me-up and tuck-me-in, this layered cocktail is the perfect conclusion to a holiday celebration.
Ingredients:
- ¾ oz. cold-brewed coffee
- ½ oz. simple syrup
- 1 oz. heavy cream
- 1½ oz. Fernet-Branca
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: double rocks
Garnish grated nutmeg.
How to make it?
- Combine the cold-brewed coffee and half of the simple syrup with a drop or two of the heavy cream in a shaker.
- Shake it.
- Pour into a double rocks glass over a single large ice cube.
- Add the Fernet as a float on top. Whip the remaining heavy cream and simple syrup.
- Float the cream on top of the Fernet and garnish.
Tip: To make nicely defined layers, make sure your ingredients are well chilled and pour the Fernet gently over the back of a spoon, so it floats rather than sinks.
PORTER AND WHISKEY HOT TODDY
Looking for something hot and yet satisfy your all sense of drinking something strong. Well, we have that as well for you. Perfect all those in the family who love their whiskey. A simple porter syrup infuses malty goodness into this whiskey hot toddy. The strength of the rye is warming on its own, but the richness of the porter syrup and its spices really rounds things out.
Ingredients:
1½ oz. high-proof rye whiskey
¾ oz. porter syrup
½ oz. fresh lemon juice
6 oz. hot water
Tools: barspoon, strainer
Glass: mug
Garnish: dehydrated blood orange wheel and star anise
Porter Syrup
72 oz. porter beer
3 cups granulated sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
1 pinch of cloves
1 handful of allspice berries
How to make it?
- Heat the porter until boiling, watching for rising foam from the carbonation, then slowly stir in sugar until dissolved.
- Reduce the heat to a simmer and then reduce by half.
- All to cool, then strain into a bottle and refrigerate to store.
BITTERCUP
Ohh yes! It’s all about being bitter. Thats right in this cocktail all of its ingredients are of bitter in taste. And if you are one of those who doesn’t like bitter in their drink, then this is the one you look after. But if you really like to youre you cocktail a tad bit of bitter than this is for sure your call.
Ingredients
1 oz. Campari
¾ oz. fresh grapefruit juice
½ oz. unsweetened cranberry juice
½ oz. Fernet-Branca
¼ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
2 oz. dry sparkling wine
How to prepare it?
- Combine all ingredients, except sparkling wine, and shake with ice.
- Strain into a chilled glass and top with sparkling wine.
MEZCAL NEGRONI
This mezcal Negroni matches the agave spirit’s earthiness with the herbaceous aroma of rosemary.
Ingredients
1 ¼ oz. mezcal (Hello Stranger uses Wahaka espadín)
1 ½ oz. Cocchi Americano Rosa
½ oz. Campari
Tools: barspoon, strainer
Glass: Old Fashioned
Garnish: grapefruit twist, rosemary sprig
How to make it?
- Stir all the ingredients with ice to chill, then strain into an ice-filled glass.
- Twist a piece of grapefruit peel over the drink, then pierce the twist with a rosemary sprig and use as garnish. (Optional: Use a kitchen torch to flame the rosemary sprig until it smokes; extinguish the flame before serving.)
BLACK GATO NIGHTCAP
For those times when you can’t decide between an after-dinner coffee or an amaro, this nightcap recipe offers the best of both worlds.
Ingredients
1 oz. coffee-infused mezcal
½ oz. crème de cacao
½ oz. Averna amaro
Tools: barspoon, mixing glass
Glass: rocks
How to make it?
Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir to chill. Strain into a rocks glass over a few cubes of ice or one large cube.
Coffee-Infused Mezcal: Add 1 scoop of espresso to a bottle of mezcal and let sit for for 3-4 hours. Strain the coffee out of the bottle before use.

1 oz. walnut liqueur
½ oz. barrel-aged cachaça

How to make it?
Combine the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish.
THE SUSPENDER

1 oz. Cardamaro Amaro
1 oz. Cappelletti Aperitivo
1 oz. Cocchi Vermouth di Torino
Barspoon of white balsamic vinegar

How to prepare it?
Stir all ingredients together with ice. Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Garnish.
BLACK MANHATTAN
The Black Manhattan recipe uses Averna in place of sweet vermouth. It’s like a brooding counterpart to the classic Manhattan.
Ingredients
2 oz. rye whiskey
1 oz. Averna
1 dash Angostura bitters
1 dash Regans’ Orange Bitters No. 6
Tools: mixing glass, barspoon, strainer
Glass: coupe
Garnish: cherry
How to make it?
Stir well with ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass, and garnish with a cocktail cherry.
FALL INTO ITALY
Averna inspired the name of this cocktail, and crushed ice helps take the edge off the intersection of three powerful spirits. This equal parts cocktail couldn’t be easier to mix.
Ingredients
¾ oz. Averna
¾ oz. Cognac
¾ oz. Jamaican rum
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. simple syrup (1:1)
2 dashes chocolate or mole bitters
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: double rocks or double Old Fashioned
Garnish: orange wedges
How to make it?
Combine the ingredients into a shaker and shake briefly to combine. Strain into a chilled double Old Fashioned glass. Add crushed ice on top. Garnish.
