Taste: Dry Palate, slightly creamy mouthful, slight note of caramel early in the palate and a faint palate of raspberry toward the end of the taste.

Siwucha Vodka

Related image

An ‘incompletely rectified’ polish Vodka. Siwucha translates literally as ‘Hooch’ or ‘Rot-gut’. Developed to faithfully replicate the vodkas of old through the addition of a portion of rectified barley spirit, this is perhaps as close as it’s possible to (legally) get to real, genuine Vodka from the old country. A must for any true Vodka fan.

Apart from crystal water, the basis of the formula is a combination of many ingredients, mainly two types of rectified grain spirits. The components used for the production of the spirit contribute to the unique flavor of Siwucha and the addition of natural flavors extracted from a variety of wild berries particularly enhances its aroma. Siwucha is matured in old oak casks where it is fully harmonized and the color turns slightly yellowish.

Blue Duck Rare Vodka is proudly New Zealand designed & crafted. An improbable 7 distillations create the purest vodka possible and a smooth rich unparalleled texture. With the refinement and vitality of a spring-fed river, the structure surges velvety and smooth around the tongue, carrying with it the fine-grained unctuous alcohol that rolls along in midstream. Like the rainbow from the spray over rapids, hints of peppery spice and lemon hang over the palate leaving a warm and tingly mouthfeel. In the nose, it is gentle, charcoal phenolic with a pale lemon zest, fine wheat hull, and straw aroma.

Absolut ELYX

Image result for Absolut ELYX

The most favorite in this list will be Absolut ELYX because of its long tradition in supporting design and art, not to forget the single estate where it comes from. It’s a highly refined vodka that is distilled in copper stills and is made from winter wheat harvested from the Råbelöf Estate, giving it a particular flavor profile (very a similar concept to the terroir of wine).  The scale of the production of Elyx is significantly less than Absolut, and it retains a handcrafted ethos from the special estate wheat, to the local water filtered through a limestone bedrock, to the bottle itself. From the nose of Absolut Elyx, it’s clear that this is distinctively different from the classic Absolut. From a sharp crisp nose, Elyx unrolls with a smooth and slightly sweet entry that carries the wheat grain note from the nose and adds light vanilla cream, a touch of butterscotch, and a hint of hazelnut and chocolate. Where Elyx really shows off its stripes is in the midpalate where it develops a fantastic spice reminiscent of the pinprick you get from a great Russian style vodka; although it’s not a pinprick here, the spice is wide and expansive on the palate. This spice gives Elyx tremendous structure and defines the finish, which has a nice spicy core but finishes clean. The mouthfeel of Elyx is simply exceptional, transforming from a smooth, creamy opening to a crisp, clean finish, perfectly executed in every way.
